The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore, established in 1882, is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions dedicated to veterinary, animal, and allied sciences in Asia. With a distinguished legacy spanning more than 145 years, UVAS has evolved into a leading center of excellence in education, research, innovation, and community engagement. Guided by its motto, “Provoking Potentials – Producing Professionals,” the University is committed to developing highly skilled professionals, advancing scientific knowledge, and promoting sustainable livestock development for the benefit of society.

Since attaining university status in 2002, UVAS has grown into a multidisciplinary institution offering undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral education in veterinary medicine, animal sciences, biotechnology, microbiology, food sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, biological sciences, environmental sciences, and allied disciplines. Equipped with state-of-the-art teaching hospitals, research laboratories, livestock farms, and extension services, the University provides an excellent environment for education, research, innovation, and professional training.

The University is consistently ranked among the top ten public sector universities in Pakistan and is recognized in the Times Higher Education (THE) Rankings, being placed in the 601–800 band of the THE Impact Rankings and in the 301–350 band of the THE Asia University Rankings. UVAS has a proud legacy of successfully organizing prestigious international scientific events, including the 6th Asian Buffalo Congress (2009) and the International Buffalo Congress (IBC-2019), which attracted renowned scientists, policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders from across the globe.
